Less is more.
It's a phrase we often use when assessing quality over quantity. And its a phrase that is perfectly applicable to Jacobs Audi RS4 Avant that is photographed on this page. You see, especially when it comes to modern cars, owners often over-do modifications to stand out from the crowd and this leaves me a bit numb.
There is a very fine line between tasteful and tacky and once crossed, the whole execution of a car is lost in a sea of plastic add-ons and gawdy wraps. For me, when modifying a modern car, it must be done in a way that adds to the class and quality achieved by the manufacturer.
In Jacobs case, he has executed this one perfectly.
We first met Jacob in mildly bizarre circumstances on a Stena Line ferry from Liverpool to Belfast. After two tiring days at Players Classic, we were only glad to see the inside of the ferry taking us home. What we didn't expect to see was a white RS4, aired out over a beautiful set of custom Vossen wheels.
Once onboard, it wasn't long until we bumped into its owner, Jacob, and the car chat ensued. Mentioning he'd be in Ireland for a few weeks, we invited him to Eurotreffen and ultimately arranged the shoot you see here.
This RS4 is Audi's latest model (B9) and is finished in a stunning coat of metallic Glacier White. Jacob has refrained from adding the usual bolt-on splitters and diffusers found on modern builds in favour of the factory, already super aggressive look.
Inside, the story is slightly different. Jacob enlisted the services of Plush Automotive to make some tasteful changes with a plethora of carbon fibre and alcantara covering the cockpit and seats.
In the boot, Plush built a one-off fully custom boot build with audio provided by Audison and Hertz In-Car Entertainment and air suspension management by Accuair.
That suspension system is also the work of Plush Automotive who built a custom setup under their own Air By Plush brand using struts and bags from Bilstein and management courtesy of E-level by Accuair.
The stunning wheels are a custom piece supplied by Vossen and provide the perfect contrast against the white and black exterior.
Huge shoutout to Jacob for taking some time out of his evening to allow me shoot the car. We put together a short feature film too, which you can check out below!
